Ways to market your music without social media?
Main Post:
Social media really isn't for me. I made this account last night to ask some questions about assembling a live band. Outside of this account, I have an e-mail and that's it. I don't even have a smart phone. I get it's what's happening and I'm totally fine with other people having/using it, I just don't like any of that stuff for me. I make DIY alt-folk (melody-based and image-heavy music that's Tigers Jaw meets Gregory Alan Isakov [in theory at least haha]). My problem is, the more invested I get into music, the more stumped I am at how to promote releases and shows without social media. My "label" (my friend started it haha) has an instagram they use to plug my stuff which does give it some reach, but idk.
I don't have too much trouble booking shows. I just get to know/reach out to the venue operators or other local bands/bands in the area that are playing at venues I want to play. My music is on all major streaming services, so people can follow there but idk what to do to continue engagement. My gf has instagram and it seems like every band is always posting pictures of something. Is it even possible to build a small (~5,000 listeners a month) following without it?
Any pointers, stories, or advice is very welcome!
Top Comment: How would you market your band if it were 1997 and the internet of today didn't exist? Most of the old routes and processes still exist and still work. However, they don't reach as many people as they used to. I don't have any great advice to give you, but as someone who does very little (not zero) on social media, what I would say is this: really push the traditional stuff. Posters, flyers, gigs, mailing lists, all good, all still exist and work today. Better still, lean into the 'no internet' aspect. See if there are any fanzines covering your genre and contact them. don't assume that just because some other band is posting 3x on Instagram daily that it's actually helping their band. Some people do that purely because that's all they know. Some people do that because they have no money to do any other type of promotion. remember that there are people - publicists and PR agencies - whose job it is to get your music and your news into the world. Find one that works with your genre and pay them to handle all this boring internet stuff for you.
Seventeen songs on Amazing Saturday / DoReMi Market.
Main Post:
I'm looking for fellow Carats who are fans of the kvariety show Amazing Saturday-DoReMi Market on tVn!
For those of you who aren't familiar with this show--sometimes called NolTo as an abbreviation for Amazing Saturday in Korean--each week the cast members and guests try to take accurate dictation of a snippet of kpop song. The prize? Delicious foods from Korea's famous markets. But they only get three attempts--and with each incorrect guess, half of the delicious food is given away to the show's mukbang guest, small-mouthed Haetnim.
The show has an ongoing love-hate relationship with Seventeen songs, which have showed up a lot in their challenges and given the cast members a pretty hard time.
Ep. 1 - Aju Nice (DK opening lines)
Ep. 10 - Mansae (Hoshi and Dino's verse)
Ep. 32 - Pretty U (Woozi's lines in chorus)
Ep. 59 - Oh My! (Vernon's rap)
Ep. 94 - Clap (Part of Mingyu's verse and DK's prechorus)
Ep. 124 - Boom Boom (Dino's iconic rap)
Seventeen members have appeared on the show twice: Hoshi and DK in ep. 11 and Woozi and Seungkwan in ep. 114.
The show also regularly plays a clip from Aju Nice before they start each challenge (they say "NolTo Nice!") and Seungkwan is their new favorite reaction meme after he complained about their majority voting process during his visit (they kept voting and then ignoring the results!).
Ep. 134 will air this Saturday and it marks the last appearance of regular cast member, Hyeri. Word on the street is that they'll be attempting a Seventeen song during her farewell episode. (Quite the parting gift!) What Seventeen song do you think they use?
The show mostly uses title tracks, but they do occasionally surprise the cast and guests with a b-side. I do think they have a bias for tracks that they can show some performance clip for. It would be very fitting for them to use Do Re Mi off Semicolon, given that the name matches the show name, but the lyrics of that song are seem clear except maybe Vernon's rap. (I feel like they wouldn't use the whole thing because it has so much English, and the Korean part is a little short. They usually go for about 30 Korean syllables; there's often a couple English words, but not more than that.)
Here are a few of my guesses (I keep picking on the rappers! Sorry, hip-hop team!):
Fear - Cheol's rap
9-Teen - Vernon's rap
Getting Closer - Cheol's rap
Good to Me - Mingyu's rap
Crazy in Love - Vernon's rap
Share your guess/prediction!

I hope they go with Left & Right and Seungkwan's iconic rap-sung verse. He sings it fast and I think it's a bit hard to understand what he's saying because he has to slur his words a tiny bit to match the style of the song.
I do love that DoReMi market has such a love-hate relationship with Seventeen songs, they've been a big part of why Aju Nice and Oh My climbed back on the charts and especially Aju Nice becoming SK's unofficial national anthem lol. Do you happen to know if they use any other groups' songs as frequently as Seventeen? I'm intrigued!!
Tamako Market insert songs mystery
Main Post:
So from the Tamako Market insert songs album, which has the songs that Master plays in the cafe, all the artists for the songs don't come up in google searches, so ive always thought that they were just too obscure or something.
However, i learnt today from the notes of this site https://vgmdb.net/album/45696 , that all the artists on the album are actually pseudonyms for actual composers. There's quite a variety of composers, including a few american composers in there and also japanese movie/videogame composers too.
Just thought it was interesting cos ive always wondered about it :P

Yeah its interesting to dive into. Each song actual has its own CD that supposedly came with the Japanese dvd Vols.
Krunker Market Song
Main Post:
What is the Krunker Market Song's actual title and composer? Thanks in advance.
Top Comment: I’m guessing one of the devs made it, but you can probably just google krunker market song and you can find sheet music or audio or whatever you’re looking for
